The US FDA has warned consumers not to purchase or use nine potentially dangerous sexual enhancement products available for purchase from #Walmart.com. This is part of a longer effort by the #US FDA to hold online #marketplaces responsible for the products they make available for sale, which culminated in July with a letter to #Amazon. This is a marked shift from the past, and is in line with developments in the EU. “For #supplement brands, it is important to understand that the level of #compliance requested by online marketplaces is likely to increase over the years, raising challenges in terms of providing evidence of compliance and responding to alleged violation, which may be the result of inaccurate information or competitor’s activity” says Hylo’s Luca Bucchini “We have a long experience in this area, and, while the instances flagged by the US FDA are extreme, firms should be prepared for tougher scrutiny from marketplaces, which may often be more important than formal regulatory scrutiny by authorities”
